On Sunday November 1st at the 36-hole Indooroopilly Golf Club in Brisbane, 13 teams representing eight social golf clubs came together to battle it out for an official State Championship at the inaugural Queensland Social Golf Club Championships (QSGCC). Conditions were excellent for scoring with a light drizzle of rain in the morning that quickly cleared. The overcast conditions for most of the day made the light and visibility perfect for golf. The tournament was played on the East Course at Indy, which is made up of the Green Nine and the Blue Nine.
The golfers came ready to play and most made sure they also had a good time while they tried to winkle a score from the challenging and visually striking Indooroopilly layout. Above we see David Lloyd, Dan Goatham, Brett Cullen and Jerome Sala from the Tour Fore Golfers and Calamvale Fairways SGC having a laugh on the 9th tee of the Blue Nine. By all reports they kept the good times rolling all day long and they all had a great time on the golf course.
48 golfers set out in a shotgun start from 8:00am with barely a breath of wind, setting things up for a great day for scoring. Above we see the style of Richard Weatherhead as he lashes his drive on the last hole of the Green Nine. Below we can see Wendy Gibney, Gayle Cameron, Paul Cameron and Mary Allen from Tour Fore Golfers and Bushranger Golf in front of the superb clubhouse at Indooroopilly. Mary finished as the winner of the ladies division with a total of 38 points.
When all the results were in, a horde of players in the field had given par a mighty shake and just a few shots separated the leaders in both the team and individual events.
