2010 State Social Golf Club Championships to be pairs events in QLD, NSW and VIC

In 2010, the competition format in the State Social Golf Club Championships run by Social Golf Australia will be adjusted so that the team component is for teams of two players. The events will remain as single stableford tournaments, but the team category will be a contest between pairs playing stableford aggregate, rather than teams of four as previously played.

By the end of 2009, it had become clear that many of the teams competing in the Championships were struggling with the logistics of fielding teams of four players with official golf handicaps. Although great to have four club-mates together in a team, organising and coordinating four players for the tournaments was proving a handful for many of the clubs and competitors involved. Social Golf Australia has taken the decision that from 2010, the State Social Golf Club Championships will be adjusted so that the team competition will be pairs representing their social golf clubs. The format will remain stableford aggregate with the two scores added together to make the team total.

All scores are entered on GOLF Link and count towards players' official handicaps. There is no division between male and female competitors. Teams compete representing their social golf clubs with no limits on the gender composition of the teams: all male, all female and mixed teams are welcome.
