From 2010, all the qualifying events in the State SGC Championships will be played as co-sanctioned events on The SGA Tour. In Victoria this year, there will be five VSGCC qualifying events and in Queensland there will be four QSGCC qualifiers. The Tour events that double as SGCC qualifiers will be played as stand-alone single stableford Tour events with over $500 of prizes with SGCC team qualifiers played as simultaneous competitions.
In 2010, the team competitions in the State SGCCs are pairs events playing stableford aggregate where the two stableford scores are added together to make the team total. The SGCC pairs qualifying event will be run on the same day as the Tour event by pairing social golf club team mates together and running a parallel event with a separate prize pool. The Tour and Championship qualifiers are co-sanctioned events with all players in the field competing for the Tour event prize pool and some of those players also entered in the SGCC team event to compete for a separate prize pool and the chance to qualify for the State Championship Final in October. Both events are supported by Golf Australia and scores are entered on GOLF Link to count towards players' official handicaps.
In the SGCC qualifying rounds and the finals, each social golf club team of two plays with a pair from another club. Cards are marked by the players from the other team in the group. There is no division between male and female competitors. Teams compete representing their social golf clubs with no limits on the gender composition of the teams: all male, all female and mixed teams are welcome.
Entry in the 2010 VSGCC Qualifiers is the cost of entry into the Tour event on the day and an additional $10 VSGCC entry fee per person per qualifying event. The pricing structure will vary slightly in Queensland where the entry in the first QSGCC qualifier on Sunday February 21 at Palm Meadows will be included in the Tour event entry price of just $85. Entry in each event includes sponsor gifts, trophies and prizes. For more information, or to enter the events, call Tournament Director Matthew Pitt on (03) 5433 3213 or email info (at) socialgolfcc.com.au.
