2009 ASGCC Results - Round Two - Robina Woods - August 25

The second round of the 2009 Australian Social Golf Club Championships (ASGCC) was held at the picturesque Robina Woods Golf Course on Tuesday August 25. Play commenced as a shotgun start from 7:30am.

The event featured a swag of great prizes totalling over $1500, including Wilson Staff Dx2 Soft golf balls, merchandise from our major media partner Inside Golf magazine and our own ASGCC Shiraz from Heathcote Winery. Thanks also to bwired online solutions for their assistance and support with the event website.

The field started in crisp but fine conditions in the morning as the Gold Coast served up more sunshine with the forecast for another day in the low 30s. The course was presented in great condition and the wind was hardly a factor at any stage during the round. However, this didn't mean the scores were super low as the woods of Robina took their toll on the wayward shots and demanded thoughtful course management and shrewd play to navigate to the challenging layout.

Seven teams shot scores in the 90s and all the team results were very close except for a solitary bolter - the defending champions from SP SGC had three of the top 10 individual scores for the day and jumped the field in the team event with a stunning 109 point return. Baysiders 1 took out second place and Lonsdale SGC edged out All Stars 1 for third by a single shot. The individual results were much closer with only one player managing to break par - Phil Cave from SP SGC took the bikkies with 40 points and behind him there were only two shots separating all the players between second and ninth place. Ben Burrows from Lonsdale SGC took second on countback from Ray Green from Gold Cross 2.
